I beg to refer to my letters to you under the above

reference of the 22nd & 25th instant, since when my colleague has

handed you the formal statutary declaration referred to therein.

Your request for this decletion has set us wondering

whether the Colonial Office, on the suggestion of others, has

perhaps been led to imagine that ours is a German firm, I myself,

twentyseven years ago, founded the firm at the above address and

am still conducting it, at the same address, after its conversion

into a Private Company, in which I hold the controlling interesty.

As to the name of "Rehders" in the style of the firm,

this gentleman (of Danish parentage) left it more than twentyfive

years ago, and has no connection with it of any kind whatever

since he left. The style was however not altered, because of the
